Obituary for Philip Baumgardner

Philip Baumgardner, 64, of Meadville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 6, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Erie on December 4, 1952 a son of the late John and Virginia Herrick Baumgardner.

Philip graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1970 and attended Triangle Institute of Technology. He served in the United States Army and worked as a transportation construction inspector with the Commonwealth of PA Department of Transportation for over 27 years. He was a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers (A.S.H.E.) and the PA Association of Retired State Employees (P.A.R.S.E.).

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Petroff Baumgardner on March 18, 2017; one sister, Carol Julius; and one nephew, John H. Rictor.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Jennifer King (Wade) of Lawrence Park and Lisa Maciolek of Girard; one stepson Thomas Maciolek of Erie; two nieces, Holly Pierce (Bruce) and Christine Puline (Carl), all of Lawrence Park; three step grandchildren, Justin, Trenton, and Kendall; a brother in law, William Julius of Harborcreek; and many great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
