Margaret Lanuha Lorei,73, formerly of Greene Township, passed away on Monday March 20, 2017 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born in Erie on June 23, 1943 a daughter of the late John A. and Mary Gasper Lanuha.

Margaret was a 1961 graduate of Mercyhurst Seminary and went on to work at the Holiday Inn. Most recently she worked at Kaufmann's as a switchboard operator and in retail. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church where she served as a Sacristan for over 16 years and was a Eucharistic Minister. She belonged to the St. Boniface Quilters, the Prayer Shawl Ministry, and was Regent for the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 515. She enjoyed ceramics, knitting, sewing, and making rosaries for various organizations. She especially enjoyed traveling to see her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Stuczynski.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph T. Lorei; one daughter, Elizabeth Swatzell and her husband, William "Joe" of Seguin, TX; one son, Christopher J. Lorei and his wife, Maureen Percy Lorei, of Frederick, MD; four grandchildren, William "Joey", Sarah, Nathan, and Colleen; two sisters, Lillian Maciulewicz of Erie and Marion Pennock of Solomon, MD; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., including a rosary service there at 3:30 p.m., and are invited to a Funeral Mass at St. Boniface Catholic Church on Friday at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, 330 E. 10th St., Erie, 16503 or to St. Boniface Catholic Church, 9367 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16509.
