Obituary for Edward L. Barnes

Edward L.  Barnes
Edward Lamar Barnes, 90, of Millcreek, passed away on Wednesday March 15, 2017 at Sarah Reed Retirement Center. He was born in Wildwood, FL on August 26, 1926 a son of the late Walter and Thelma Hadsock Barnes.

Edward proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from the Navy in 1965 following 22 years of service. He went on to work with G.E. in Daytona Beach, Florida and Erie for 17 years before retiring in 1985 and most recently worked with Douglas Battery in North Carolina. He enjoyed hunting and golfing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Mills; one niece, Margaret Hyden; and one nephew, Harold Mills.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Elliot Barnes; four sons, Lynn Barnes and his wife, Pam, of Virginia Beach, VA, Edward Barnes and his wife, Sandra, of Fairview, Thomas Barnes and his girlfriend, Anne Munz, of Clinton, MA, and Timothy Barnes and his girlfriend, Susan Wheeler, of Millcreek; nine grandchildren, Jane, Amy, David, Desiree, Christina, Tomee, Gavin, James, and William; seven great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
