Obituary for James L. Gaber Sr.

James L.  Gaber Sr.
James L. Gaber, Sr., 71, of Waterford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 22, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Erie on October 8, 1945 a son of the late Gustave F. and Adell M. Louis Gaber.

Jim was the owner of Gaber's Frame Service and was the "go-to guy" for insurance companies and dealerships in Erie County and the surrounding areas for automobile framing services. He was a member of the Moose and Siebenbuerger Clubs. He also belonged to the American Legion Post 285 and enjoyed gardening and landscaping.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Donald Gaber.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marilyn R. Adams Gaber; one son, James L. Gaber, Jr. and his wife, Sheila, of Waterford; two daughters, Michelle Kulik and her husband, Brian, of Waterford and Jennifer Scarpino and her husband, Paul, of Erie; three grandchildren, Santana Blackford and her husband, Jimmy Lee, Zackery Scarpino, and Mackenzie Kulik; one sister, Judy Brooks of Waterford; one brother, William Gaber of Clearwater, FL; one uncle, Karl Gaber of Waterford; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services there on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m.. Inurnment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Regional Home Health and Hospice, 2564 Village Common Dr., Erie, 16506 or the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
