Doris L. Faulkner Nelson, 93, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 17, 2016 at St. Mary's Home East. She was born in Erie on September 25, 1923 a daughter of the late Earl C. and Bertha V. Fuller Faulkner.

Doris graduated from Academy High School and went on to attend Mercyhurst College. She proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and worked at Mellon Bank for 31 years before retiring in 1987. She was an active lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church and also a member of the Glenwood YMCA. She enjoyed crafts, reading, and especially spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson, Adam Nelson and two brothers, Charles E. Faulkner and William A. Faulkner.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen Gribbin (Frederick) of Erie; two sons, Tom Nelson (Janet) of Lakeland, FL and Rick Nelson (Mary Jo) of Erie; one brother, Norman Faulkner (Lois) of Virginia; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services there at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
