Obituary for Frank S. Patalon

Frank S. Patalon, 80, died peacefully with family Saturday at UPMC Hospital after a short illness. He was born January 9, 1936, son of the late Frank J. and Stella (Kloss) Patalon. He graduated from Wattsburg High School and later served as a member of the Wattsburg Area School Board. He received his Engineering Degree from Penn State University and spent his career at General Electric, Kaiser Aluminum, Erie Bolt, Lovell Mfg. and Zurn Industries. Sgt. Patalon retired from the Pennsylvania National Guard Headquarters Company 112, 28th Infantry Division in 1996 after 30 years of service with numerous service awards and medals. Frank and Barbara (Serafini) Patalon, were married at St. Boniface Church August 14, 1965 and were well known by the parish for their service. He was a member of the St. Boniface Knights of Columbus.
Frank is survived by his wife, Barbara, two sons, Patrick Patalon (Tammy Sakall) and Michael (Claudia) Patalon, grandchildren, Jennifer, Caleb, Greg, and Collin, and great grandson, William. He is also survived by his brothers, John (Diane) Patalon and Robert Patalon and sisters, Doris (John) Betza and Mary E. Schaaf as well as nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount of Olives Cemetery.
