Obituary for Elizabeth A. Dahn (Carrig)

Elizabeth A. Carrig Dahn, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2016. She was born in Erie, on February 26, 1929, the daughter of the late Robert B. and Beatrice M. Freebourn Carrig.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Erie and McKean, and a 1947 graduate of Villa Maria Academy High School. She was employed by the General McLane School District as a secretary for 27 years, retiring in 1993. She worked part time at Forestview Skilled Nursing Center and Springhill Senior Living Community in her retirement years. Betty was a past member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean, and for the last few years a member at St. George Catholic Church. Betty was an avid quilter and crafter. She was also an active member of the Glenwood YMCA. She was a friend to many and enjoyed spending time with them. She treasured her family and enjoyed following the sports and activities of her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband and father of her children, Dorson D. Dahn; her sister, Jackie Mowrey; and her two brothers, Robert J. and Thomas A. Carrig.
She is survived by her four children, David Dahn of Ossian, IN., Tim Dahn and his wife Pam of Waynesboro, VA; Ann Walker and her husband Edward of Erie, and Gary Dahn and his wife Kristen of Waterford; nine grandchildren, Kerianne Garwick (Matt), Lindsey Dahn, Kayley Petitt, Alyssa Dahn, Adam and Andrew Walker, Garrett, Caleb, and Lauren Dahn; and three great-grandchildren, Lacey Garwick, Sam and Anna Petitt; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Holy Cross Catholic Church - 7100 W Ridge Rd, Fairview, PA 16415, on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of a Funeral Mass there at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, PA 16504.
