Frances J. Fetzner Erdely, age 73, of Erie, went home to her heavenly Father after a long and courageous battle with COPD, on Friday, May 29, 2015. She was born in Erie, PA, on January 16, 1942, the daughter of the late Bernard G. Fetzner, Sr. and Dorothy Rust Fetzner.
Fran was a good homemaker, loving wife, and hard worker. She was a kind hearted, go-to person when needed by anyone or for anything. She enjoyed playing cards, loved animals, and made great apple pies.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Klep and Judith Ferguson; and brother, Robert Fetzner.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, David “Yogi” Erdely; five brothers and sisters, Bernard G. Fetzner, Jr., John Fetzner and his wife Joy, Thomas Fetzner, Sandra Lamp and her husband Orville, and Kenneth Fetzner and his wife Sandy; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; her special friend and nephew, Bud Dougherty, her friend and caregiver, Maria Rodriguez; and her cockatoo, Pretty Baby.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Monday at 12:45 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
