Thomas L.  Jones
Thomas L. Jones, 83, of Greene Township, passed away Wednesday December 10, 2014 at Country Acres Personal Care Home in Titusville. He was born in Erie on March 31, 1931 a son of the late Leonard and Ruth Garlick Jones.
Thomas graduated from Academy High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy Reserve for 25 years as Chief Petty Officer. He worked with R.M. Kerner as a tool and die maker for 42 years. He was an active member of Grandview Alliance Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and playing softball.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Laura C. Straite Jones; his stepmother, Lillian Jones; one brother, James "Mart" Jones; and three sisters, Grace Jones Osborn, Gladys Jones Pitroff, and Maria Jones Crays Nagel.
Survivors include three sons, Philip Jones and his wife Wendy of Wattsburg, Brian Jones and his wife Sylvia of Wattsburg and Eric Jones and his wife Shelia Strawser of Gibsonia, PA; one daughter, Marilyn Jones of State College, PA; six grandchildren Andy Jones and his wife Susan, Matt Jones, Robert Jones, Erin Fonzo and her husband Ben, Ian Strawser and Lauren Strawser; two great grandchildren, Lia and Cora Fonzo; two brothers, Garnet John Jones of Kissimmee, FL and David A. Jones of Erie; three sisters, Mary Jones Shore of Erie, Winifred Jones Corbin of Girard, and Ruth Jones Copen and her husband Frank of Yuba City, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and are invited to services at Grandview Alliance Church, 1102 E. Gore Rd., on Monday at 10:00 a.m.. Burial with military honors will follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
