Frank E.  Nicholls Jr.
Frank Edwin Nicholls, age 84, of Cranesville, passed away in his home Wednesday, May 28, 2014. He was born October 22, 1929 in Stanley, New York, a son of the late Margaret Larson Nicholls and Frank Edwin Nicholls, Sr.
From a young age, Frank enjoyed raising animals and farming. He also loved planting flower and vegetable gardens. Hunting and fishing were another two of his favorite hobbies.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era. Frank retired from Eriez Magnetics in 1982 after many years as a sheet metal worker.
He was always an optimistic person, spreading happiness to his grandchildren and family. Much of his time was spent with his church, Bethel Presbyterian, in Cranesville. Frank was a long time member there, and was an Elder for many of his later years. He was always devoted to his church and all of its members. He was also a member of LaGrange in the Cranesville and Albion areas and the Beekeepers Club.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Betty Troup Nicholls on November 6, 1969, his brother Floyd, and sisters Marjory Kiser and Betty Heim.
He is survived by a daughter, Diane Hall and husband Thomas of Erie; sons Randy of Las Vegas and Gary of Saegertown; grandchildren Frank, Anthony, Elizabeth, and Zachery; and brothers, John of Ohio and William and his wife Angie of Erie.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. and are invited to services there on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
